Fertilizer Friday on Sunday!!!

My flowers are finally starting to make their show! I have been trying to fight off the Poison Ivy and Japaneese Beatles. The weeds are making their show as well! It feels like April here. We have had high temps in the 60's and 70's with tons of rain. Today it looks like a beautiful sunny warm day!

I have been trying my hand at growing herbs. I have planted Lemon Verbena, Mint, Thyme, Rosemary, Basil, Lavender. I would love to try cooking with them but I haven't a clue. As soon as my kitchen is finished I will give it a try.

Flaunt your Flowers Fertilizer Friday!!!!

Fertilizer Friday!

I have to admit I have been fertilizing 2x a week. My flowers have had such a tough time. It rained here for 7 weeks straight and now it is 95 degrees. My flowers are perking up now that the sun is out! My pride and joy flower pots were blown off of the porch during a bad storm. They weighed about 60 pounds each! I have a ton of weeding to do. The weather has been to miserable to go outside. We are supposed to get nice 80 degree weather next week and I plan to dedicate some time to my plants....
I had planned on taking out our sidewalks and putting in the cute little paths like Tootsie has. I think it will have to wait until next year after the kitchen renovation is done. Hopefully it will be done by the end of July.
I signed up for FF last week and I had technical difficulties with my camera. The pictures that are at the top of my blog are from last years gardens.
I hope you all have a amazing Friday!!

My arbor is starting to fill in. I have a non invasive Honeysuckle planted on it.

Hopefully by next Friday things will perk up around here.

See you then!!!

Progress at last!

My husband , bless his heart has been working on our cabinets for 6 months. He stripped all the paint off of them and refaced the doors and drawers. It took 6 coats of paint. I appreciate all his efforts. They look great!

My husband carrying the granite tiles ! LOL :)

My brother the body builder carrying the tiles!

awwww..... a dishwasher atlast after 20 years of waiting. I love it! The cabinets has to be completely reconfigured to fit the dishwasher. The counters were too short for a dishwasher and had to be raised. It has been a tough project and we are growing weary of it!

I have to admit my blog is a real mess! I can't figure out how to get the snowy scenery off of my blog! It just won't go away!

I am starting to see real progress in my kitchen! I have been without a stove and sink for several weeks . It has been challenging but I am a real camper! The cabinets, backsplash and counters are done. We still have to build the island and lay the flooring! I am hoping to be done by the end of July!

Pictures for the Doxie Lovers

oops I put this one on 2x and dont know how to fix it...

My daughter was inducted into the National Honor Society last week. I am so proud of her. She works very hard on her academics and her singing. She is excelling as a soprano 1 in her Madrigal choir. Everyone has asked me where she gets it. It's definitely not from me. I love to bust out a tune now and then but it isn't pleasant. I think she gets it from my cousin Judy Ann who passed away from cancer in 2006. She sounds just like Judy. I would like to think God passed the gift to Jordan when he called Judy home.

Here are a few pics for my friends who are doxie lovers. Isn't she sweet? She is a very good puppy.

It is raining again ........I can't wait to see the sun again.

Getting ready for post prom..and the kitchen renovation

I can't believe that it has been 2 months since my last blog entry. Our kitchen renovation is coming along slowly but surely. After the weekend we should be ready to put the granite down on the counter tops. We had to completely reconfigure the counterst to fit a dishwasher and we all know how I want one. They had to be built up 2 1/2 ". Lucky for me my brother is the best carpenter in the world.

My daughter's prom is this weekend. I have had so much fun helping her prepare for it. I will post pictures next week. Our high school makes a huge deal out of post prom. We have spent months on it. Yesterday we tied together hundreds of parachutes and lifted them to cover the ceiling. It was awesome. Our theme this year is "Electric Avenue" . The entryway is a giant electrical receptacle. The kids will crawl through the hole in it and come out in total darkness. They will be filmed w/ a ultra red camera. They will find their way to a room full of strobe lights and fog. The walls are covered in fluorescent art some of it will be swirling. The next room will have disco lights and images of dancer silhouettes on the walls. When they come out there will TVs where they can laugh at their friends who are being filmed. There will also be a static electricity that makes your hair stand up on end. When the kids reach then end of the entryway they will be in the gym. They won't recognize it due to the parachutes. There will be food , games and lots of prizes for them. I can't wait. It's going to be fun.

Accepting the things you cannot change and changing the things that you can

This is Coleman and his best friend Mac sharing a M&M in the dugout during a game. I love this picture to me it represents friendship and the innocence of being a boy. My dad took this pic of Coleman on the RR tracks to me it represents the fact that he will overcome!

My little Rosebud with her puppy Kennedy

I have been so consumed w/ our kitchen project and teenage drama that I haven't had a chance to blog. I think about my blogging friends everyday and wonder how you are doing.
I have been dealing with the hurt that comes with being a parent and watching your child get ripped apart by a very political small town. My son has traveled year round for baseball with the same boys since age 5. He was cut from the team. It was devastating for him. How do you explain to a 14 year old boy the way that politics work in a small town. I hope he will become stronger and more determined as a result of this. Every day I drive past the boys practicing and feel the biggest pain in my heart.

Fun Day for Abigail...A snow man, pink elephant and a snow dog!

We have had a ton of snow here in Indy. We had over a foot of snow in one snow fall. It is snowing right now! I think it is beautiful and it sure does bring a smile to my "Rose Buds" face. We live on the same block with my in-laws and these pictures were taken at their house. She had so much fun making the pink elephant, snow dog and snowman with her grandpa and made memories to last a lifetime.

Budo on the left is only 7 weeks old . His mommy died at birth and he has been bottle fed. He is now on dry food and doing well. He is part Pomeranian/Daschund. At least that could be a possibility. Let's just say he is a Heinz 57. On the right of course is a snow dog.:)

Isn't this little snow dog the cutest!

Kennedy is getting big! She loves the snow. She loves to eat it and get it on her nose. My little angel is making her snow angels. She was trying to measure the snow but i think the measuring stick is upside down. We have had our snow fun and now I am ready for the first sign of spring!

My before pics of my kitchen and my sons accident....

This is the floor/back splash that I have picked out. It is slate and it is called Copper Rust. It is so much prettier in person. I love the way the cabinets in the pics are painted black inside and I may try this. The kitchen's posted are my dream kitchens. I know it is a sin to covet......I am definitely a sinner! I hope God can forgive me. I want one of these kitchens bad! I love the sink and I am looking for one like it. The floor in the kitchen with the ladder is the one I have picked out.

Now back to reality. The kitchen below is my kitchen. Now ,you can see why I need a new one. I think we will put in a island. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions for my cabinets? I won't be able to afford to replace them.

TheWallpaper is down now...I kind of still liked it but it's not for everyone.

I have my stove for sale. I haven't had any takers but it sure has brought out some schemers. I hate carpet in the kitchen. The carpet was here when I moved in. I never want to see it or this color again!

It has been so long since I have blogged that I am down right ashamed. I have been busy with many things. First of all, my son was involved in a accident. My son is 14 and he is all boy. He and 7 other friends were at a sleepover and they decided to have the 15 year old boy across the street pull them behind his truck on their sleds. We have had a ton of snow here. It was 11:00 at night. My son and his friend were being pulled onto a very dangerous road and when they made a turn they flew off of the sled. My son is OK but his friend hit a stop sign and had to be life lined to the hospital. He has a ruptured spleen and kidney damage. He was in the hospital for over a week. He is going to be fine now. They thought they would have to remove his spleen but they were able to stop the bleeding and the spleen will repair itself. I don't think that there is any punishment that I could give my son that would make him feel any worse than seeing his friend in this condition.

On a lighter note my kitchen renovation is under way. I have all the wallpaper down. It took a week straight. Whoever invented wallpaper must be a evil person............grr.. I am thinking of going with antique gold for the paint color.

Crowns and a couple other treasures!

I have been out looking for crowns. So far this is what I have come up with.... I think this could become a addiction. Something about putting the little crown in your hands is empowering.

Tootsie started this whole thing!!! Thanks Toots! Now, maybe my dreary Indiana winter will be a little brighter.
I think of Tootsie every time I walk by them.

I have a few other little treasures that I would like to share. My great Aunt Martha passed away last year. She was a spectacular lady. Here are a few items that were still in her home that were basically "trash". Her home is ready to be bulldozed because the state is taking possession of it to pay for the care she received in the nursing home. The home is basically worthless in their eyes. Well, these items do not look like trash to me! I love them and they remind me of her every day.

My great aunt had a only child named Louise . Louise tragically drowned at age 30. The decanters belonged to her. I found them behind a chair forgotten and moldy.
I am the most sentimental person that you will ever find. I will not put anything into my house that doesn't have a meaning of some kind. It may not be pretty to some but it means something to me or my family.
I think the things in ones home should be what YOU love. I think more is more and almost anything can be turned into a treasure! I loved Gollum's new decorating rules for 2009! If you haven't read them yet you need to.-
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
