I have been so consumed w/ our kitchen project and teenage drama that I haven't had a chance to blog. I think about my blogging friends everyday and wonder how you are doing.
I have been dealing with the hurt that comes with being a parent and watching your child get ripped apart by a very political small town. My son has traveled year round for baseball with the same boys since age 5. He was cut from the team. It was devastating for him. How do you explain to a 14 year old boy the way that politics work in a small town. I hope he will become stronger and more determined as a result of this. Every day I drive past the boys practicing and feel the biggest pain in my heart.

Good to see you blogging again. I know how hurtful it is when your baby is hurting. My son suffered a similar "cut from the team" a couple of years ago. We know it was a political statement because he put football ahead of basketball. He was cut from the basketball team as a sophomore. He came home to tell us, we didn't believe him, his teammates didn't believe him, kids at school didn't believe him, but it really did happen. He just said he didn't want to sit out for the season and said he was going to talk to the wrestling coach to see if he could join the wrestling team. They welcomed him with open arms and, in hindsight, it was one of the best things that happened to him. Maybe your son would consider running track? He may end up being a track star and never would have known it had this not happened. You know, when God closes a door, he opens a window. While I'm still ticked over the basketball cutting (and I must say, it's taken some of the joy out of going to the games), I know my son has bettered himself because of it. I'll say a prayer for you and your son....time will heal all and you'll look back and know it was okay. Take care,
your Indiana blogging buddy, Kelly
